About

My name is Sheilla Akwara and I am a connoisseur of many things. Most of all I love all things media and music.

I am a media and development expert, philanthropist, mental health advocate and activist, gospel artist, and motivational speaker with a passion for empowering, uplifting, and supporting young people. I have extensive experience with public speaking including engagements at the United Nations, educational institutions, and other events. I have supported the mentoring of young people through their developmental phases, with a desire to help them get to their highest potential. Having personally gone through severe experience of depression and suicidal ideations, I finally overcame my struggles and hardships and decided to form an organization called Jenga Africa, to help young people in similar situations.

Jenga Africa

Jenga Africa focuses on suicide prevention and mentorship to young people, offering them opportunities to fulfill their visions and destinies. Please visit jengaafrica.com for more information on this organization.

I was born and raised in Kenya and the United States. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Multi-Media Journalism and a master’s degree in International Development and another in Media and Culture

Life Strategist

One of my gifts and passions is to help people discover themselves – who they are, their purpose, and to help them understand their journey in life. What you go through in life is tied to who you are called to be. In this regard, I help people craft out their paths and build their destinies by identifying possible opportunities.

I have found that one of the main reasons people don’t advance in life is either they don’t know who they are [even though they would swear they do] or they have a negative mindset that is holding them back.

I offer one-to-one mentorship or strategy calls aimed at helping you discover yourself and breaking negative mindsets. Visit ‘The Journey’ page for more information on this.
