Hold on, God is working it out | Sheilla Akwara

I am not sure who this message is for, but you’re here, so please keep reading. I am sure God has a message for you. 😊

As I was walking home just now from the store, I was overcome with so much love, because of everything that God has done for me. He told me to keep holding on, that everything is coming together. I thought it wise to share this, especially now, seeing many people are going through financial troubles and uncertainty. Please remember your God, for He cares deeply for you. This is also why we have faith – it is the substance of things HOPED for. What are you hoping for during this season?

Lessons & Tests

Sometimes it seems as if nothing is working out, and as much as you’re trying your best, the opposite is happening. Sometimes it might seem as if no one is helping you, and you’re just talking and talking and begging and begging. In these moments, some of us tend to complain. A LOT. In fact, some of us have perfected the art of complaining. We complain so much that we should be crowned professors of complaining and open a university for it 🙄. If this is you, please stop doing this. It will hurt your faith tremendously. As COVID has hit the world, I always tell my friends, yes- this has affected world economies, and everything + everyone came to a quick halt; but what is the message individually – for you? If you look at situations as – people are not helping me, or they are blocking me, and this is your constant confession, then this is what will happen to you. YOU ARE WHAT YOU CONFESS. You cannot have such speech in the presence of your father. This is not faith.

Be Attentive

Lessons and tests come in many ways. Be very careful and attentive to what God is doing in your life, and what He’s teaching you. Be very discerning of His ways. He doesn’t allow things to happen for nothing. A test can come in any way, yes, even during COVID. So what is God trying to teach or tell you?

For a long time now, God has been teaching me about faith, which we all have as Christians (at different levels).

Money on the Ground

He took me back to a time in New York when I was literally out of money, and I was all the way in Queens, far away from home and I had to get back to uptown Manhattan. I had some money in my card, and I hoped to God that it would go through because I had just paid some large bills. Imagine having no money to pay for a train ticket. Picture a cold-wintery windy night. The wind felt like it was freezing every molecule in my body. Papers were flying all over the place and I struggled to walk as I squinted my eyes so I could get a better view of my path. Then I saw it. A $5 bill fluttering on the ground, unbothered by the gust of wind that blew all around. What a scene. Why wasn’t it being carried away by the wind? Amazed, I picked it up, rushed over to the metro and paid for my train ticket. I knew it was God. He sent my angel to put that money on my path.

💲💲💲💲

Now $5 might be a little to you, but I don’t take such moments lightly, because as I was walking, I was concerened that my card might decline. Nothing that happens to you is a coincidence. Everything serves as some type of communication, whether good or bad. Also, God gives a little at first, to see if you will recognize Him through the little, and be faithful with it. Later on, He will bless you with more. Your faithfulness and thankfulness in such moments is key. Can you praise God when you have nothing? Can you give Him praise when you’re completely dry?

He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

Luke 16:10

There’s no logical explanation for the $5 bill, as the wind should have blown it away. But it was as if it was glued to the ground, waiting for me to find it and pick it up. If you always trust and run to God, He will align you with what you need, so you’re never without.

Brooklyn Tabernacle- They Gave Me Money

Another story- The years 2013-2014 were interesting for me. God set me apart to teach me His word, and I also went back to school for my masters. If I was not studying His word, I was researching and writing papers for school. Besides this, no one heard from me much. I was at Brooklyn Tabernacle church one Sunday, also at a time when I was on a tight budget. A masters degree is expensive, especially in New York. I sat in the middle section, close to the front, and to my right was a white couple. I didn’t speak to them when I walked in, just the usual hello when the pastor said “turn to your neighbor”.

OH WOW! 😲

When it was time to give our tithes and offerings and the basket was passed down our row, I gave the little I had. The couple turned to me, with the man taping my shoulder and giving me money. I looked down, and I had 100 dollars in my hand. I was shocked and I wondered greatly at what was happening. I looked over at the couple, and they squeezed their hands tightly together, all the while looking at the front. They never turned back to look at me. I gently said thank you. As I briefly glanced at them, it was as if they were saying, thank you God for leading us to the one who needs this money. Or was it my angels? Positioned to help me? 🤷Whoever they were, I know God spoke to them to help me. I was humbled at this act and to my innocence, I contemplated giving it back or putting it in the offering basket. I felt so undeserving of that money. Surely, how can I accept it? I never accept money from people unless they’re my parents, so I didn’t know how to process this gesture. I decided to keep the money and I quietly cried as I once again knew it was God looking out for me.

My Faith was Challenged

Last week, [June, 2020] God challenged my faith. He has always been pushing me to see past the physical. The thing with lessons on faith, once God plants the seed, He expects it to grow. So He will always come to check if it is indeed growing. He will come to test it, so get ready. And remember, a test of faith might be you temporarily not having what you need, to see if you’ll trust God for providence. Your faith will always be tested.

2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.

James 1:2-3

In fact, with everything concerning you, God will drop a seed, water it, grow it and test it. Testing is a crucial part of our faith.

I read powerful stories of faith in the bible, beginning with Elijah. This prophet was able to shut up the heavens so that it wouldn’t rain, then three years later he prayed and the heavens opened and poured down rain. Another time God sent ravens to feed him in the desert. Prophet Elisha prayed for the widow who had lost her husband, that left her in debt, and she received miracle oil to pay for all her debts… and then some. I said no- something is wrong here. Why can’t our faith work at this level? I wanted this type of faith.

I Prayed and He Answered

So, I prayed to God, and meditated on the stories above. I went into a 3 day fast and asked God to manifest to me in the same way. I wanted this high level of faith. I even asked for funds to be miraculously deposited to my account, and I kept checking. My spiritual father always says keep checking your accounts, just keep checking. Faith always checks, because at any moment, your breakthrough could come. Fast forward to two days later, something spectacular happened. As I was cleaning my room, I moved over to my coat closet to hang my jacket. I heard the Holy Spirit say, ‘check your coat, there’s money in there‘. I said, what do you mean? I knew this came from God, as I was meditating on other things at that moment. I checked the first coat, nothing. I checked the second, and boom! I had about $120 inside my coat. THE WAY I JUMPED!! I was shocked. I was praying for this exact manifestation, and I got it. Once again, this might be little to you, but I was able to use it to pay some bills.

Do you see? God gives us little, and He keeps increasing it based on your faithfulness. I recognized Him when he gave me $5. I recognized Him when He gave me $100. I also recognized Him when He gave me $120. I could go on and on and on, for I have a million stories on how God has always provided for me.

The Message to You

The point is, don’t tell God how to help you. He knows best and He knows where the money is at. Just pray and keep your eyes open and be attentive because the answer can come in many ways. Money is nothing to our father. He says:

‘The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine,’
says the Lord of hosts.
Haggai 2:8

What are you praying to God for?

God is more than able to meet your needs right now. We have faith for moments when we lack, for moments when we are weak and for moments when our own wisdom fails us. We are Christians and we honestly shouldn’t have the same struggles as ‘people of the world’. In fact, the devil knows that we are not using our faith to stake claim on things that belong to us. Do you know that God has given you dominion over everything on this earth?🤯 If only your eyes could open and see the marvelous things that God has for you.

Stop Complaining

Also, don’t complain. In all things, God tests us. Everything comes with a lesson or a test. You cannot complain in the presence of your father, as this shows that you really don’t know Him. It’s not that people are not helping you. The question is- why did God allow YOU to face what you’re going through? How is He expecting you to respond. How would faith act in your situation? [we’ll talk about this next week]. Complaints are a display of weak faith. Complaints carry doubt, and doubt will not give you access to things that you need. If you know your father is the source, and that He cares for you, as He says:

And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

Matthew 6:7-8

Then you will pray, BE STILL and wait for Him. I pray that God will meet your needs, but more than anything, I pray that you learn to see God through your problems. Let God be louder than your problems. Don’t let your problem speak to you, YOU ARE to speak to it.

Let Faith Rise and Speak

Let faith speak for you, let it work for you, let it show you that money can miraculously appear out of nowhere. Always remember, that faith is the substance of things hoped for…
