It’s time you know your authority and dominion

Your Dominion and Authority

Today I want to talk about your authority and dominion as a Christian. Over the past few weeks, God has had me in a class where He has been teaching and reminding me of my dominion here on earth. We all have moments where we might stumble a bit, and remember when this was about to happen to Peter, Jesus told Him, “But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.” Luke 22:32

Returned from where? Where did you go, Peter? Sometimes when we face oppositions in life, we wander off to places and spaces we shouldn’t be at. We get so distracted by life’s many problems, and we forget who we are and, most importantly, who walks with us. But it’s deeper than this. He not only walks with you, but He is within you.

Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.

So, if it’s Christ who lives in us, then when you wake up, have the mindset that you’ve woken up not only inside of Christ but have the revelation and awareness that He too is inside of you.

“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You.

John 17:20-21

When you add all these verses up, you then think about God’s authority – the authority He gave to Jesus when He died on the cross. So Jesus said, and now He has given this same power to us.

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations...
Matthew 28:18-19

When he said, ‘therefore go,’ He signified here that He had handed us this power. We can now go and do what He did and what He has taught us. He will not leave us as orphans. His limitless power is within us. Isn’t this reassuring? That the owner of this world is telling us that all authority has been given to us? You should be comforted by these words.

God showed me something yesterday. He told me, Sheilla, people always limit Me and put Me in categories and boxes. Your boundaries do not define God. In fact, the definition of God that we have is our futile attempt of trying to determine the excellence and magnitude that is God.

God is not just infinite. He is beyond infinite. He is not just powerful. He is beyond powerful. Why do I say this? Because these titles are types of boundaries that we have of Him. God asked Moses the following, and look at the answer he received:

Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?”
Exodus 3:13

God then told him:

And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”
Exodus 3:14

There’s a reason why God said to tell them I AM sent you. I AM is such an ambiguous name. One might ask, what does I AM mean, though? I AM who? It’s simple. There’s no need to scratch your head on this one. God is any and everything. If He gave you one specific title, then you would limit Him by that title. The bible says that:

And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
Ephesians 1:22-23

There are two things here: He put ALL things under His feet, and He fills ALL in all. The emphasis here is on the words ALL. Everything is under His feet; anything that has a name belongs to Him (and everything has a name, even if you don’t know its name). There’s nothing that is beyond His limits. He’s more than what you think He is.

For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.

Isaiah 55:8-9

Today, it’s time to rewire, readjust, reconstruct, reframe everything you think you know about yourself and God. Do not put Him in a box, for He cannot be contained in a box. Do not have boundary lines for Him because He answers to no one but Himself. I can go on and on, but this is the beginning of a new series that I’ll be writing weekly on the topic of dominion and authority. Once you grasp this topic thoroughly, then you’ll be able to stand amid any storm.

To know who you are in life, you must first understand who The I AM is. It all starts here.

Let us pray together…

Dear father,

Reveal to me my identity in you and give me the awareness of who I am in this world.

Show me the deep levels of dominion and authority that you’ve laid out for me. I crucify my flesh and everything that holds me back from knowing who I am and who you are. I let go of worldly things and thoughts to pursue what you’ve set in front of me. Help me not be caught up in many daily problems and struggles and understand that victory belongs to Jesus. This same Jesus is in me, and I in Him, so I will never lose.

I declare continuous victories in my life and over my family in Jesus’ name.

Amen.
