Life is About the Journey, Not the Destination| Sheilla. A

They say that life is about the journey and not the destination, and this phrase is used in a lot of self-help books and with those who seek to find meaning in life. Although it might sound very philosophical, I would like to challenge the minds of those who are married to this phrase. Please bear with me as I put forth my belief on this.

You see, life has taught me many deep things, and this is why I am moved to help others. I aim to help people find meaning in their lives by using faith in God to explain who you are and why you are going through certain things in life. This to me is the only permanent solution to life’s many issues. I say this with a strong conviction because when I was lost, depressed and without any hope, God found me and saved me. In the past, I tried everything that you could think of to get better (well, besides medicine and therapy). Although you could say I did have therapy, because I had friends who helped me along the way – and God.

Of faith and belief

People have different ways of dealing with their circumstances. Mine was through my faith in God. Whatever process you choose, it has to be something that gives you confidence in what you’re doing, and it has to be able to help you achieve purpose in what you’re looking for. What’s important form your faith, is having the determination, resilience and trust that you can achieve anything you set your mind on.

Remember that human beings have limitations 😬. There are moments when we are weak, and moments of doubt and uncertainty. In these moments, you cannot rely on people, because they too have their own limitations. Your strength should come from a force or power that has absolutely NO LIMITS and can deliver you completely + support & love you unconditionally. If you’ve found someone other than God who can do this, do let me know.

Life has taught me that God truly does exist and He is a strong fortress for those who run to Him.

If you focus on the journey alone, without thinking about the destination, you are walking blindly

Yes, we are shaped by our encounters and people that we meet as we journey on, but I want you to listen to my point carefully. There are parts of your journey that will make you want to give up. There are people that will doubt you and instill fear in you, and make you want to give up. There are things that will happen to you that will be out of your control and it might overwhelm you. This is why the destination comes into play, because many times these moments will be truly challenging.

Your Destiny

In moments of uncertainty, hopelessness and defeat, your destiny will STILL be there cheering you on. We then understand that the vision is greater than any doubt or fear. Your vision +faith will carry you forward. Do you know that what you go through in life is tied into who you are meant to be? The journey shapes you, but the destination guides and sustains you. So, let’s think about this : between the two, which one carries more weight? The destination of course. Life will put you through things that you might not want to go through, but that seat must be occupied by you, so your destiny will keep pushing you forward and cheering you on.

Life is About the Journey, Not the Destination

This statement at first glance takes out your ‘Journey’ from any consideration, because it’s clearly saying it’s NOT about the destination. Understanding and acknowledging your destination means that you know who you are. If it’s not about the destination, then where are you going? How do you get there? If life is only about the journey and NOT the destination, then what journey are you taking? Oh! You’re just driving around then? Isn’t this a waste of time? Even when you get on a train or drive your car, you know where you’re going. You got into the car because there was a certain destination in mind. Why is it possible for us to plan such trips, but we cannot plan our life trip? Isn’t this the main event? This is why many end up in wrong paths.

Spiritual meaning

You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you
that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should
remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may
give you. ~John 15:16~

I spoke about the verse above on a related article where I introduce this journey platform (click here); but let me go deeper on this article. In Christianity, we understand that the vision comes before the visionary. You are the visionary, and you are here because of the vision. If you look at the verse above, you understand that you carry in you the ability to accomplish that which you were sent out for. Why? Because you were chosen for it. God doesn’t send out people who cannot accomplish the task. Many people get overwhelmed by life and give up without having the revelation that they were sent. You were not sent out without help and sustenance. You are not alone; heaven is backing you up with innumerable hosts of angels.

You are being trained for the journey

If you think of a baby, you have to watch over him/her until they’re mature. You have to feed and bathe the baby because they are still weak and require your help. You then train them to eat solid foods and slowly they learn how to walk. You buy books and teach them the A, B, C’s. In the same way, you also have to be trained by the things God allows you to go through. God uses painful moments meant to destroy us, to build us. What was meant to write you off, is in fact writing you in.

See past the pain

Have eyes that see through and past the pain. If all you see is pain, then that’s where you’ll remain. If you’re not careful, your pain can block you from progress. Get the lesson, and get moving. Sometimes these things will make you stronger or will indicate that you’re going down a wrong path. Don’t attribute everything to be from God though. We often do things that don’t line up with God’s kingdom – and these things have harsh repercussions on us. Learn to understand the principles of the faith you are following – and everything will fall into place.

The problem

The problem with Christians is that they accept the faith without accepting the principles. If you tell someone that a particular activity is harming their future, and that they need to stop, they’ll quickly click off because they love their sins. They will even stop talking to you. Many people have moments of confusion with their faith because they don’t follow the rules. This is a simple fix. You can’t follow a certain faith without following its instructions. You’re either in or out- there’s no space/time to be luke-warm.

Are you listening God?

When confusion happens during the journey, people wonder if God really loves them or if He is even listening. If you understand your destination, then the journey will make sense. Your journey is shaped by your destination, not the other way around. Without God, you’ll believe every philosophical argument thrown at you. I challenge you today to look at life from a spiritual perspective. If you’re reading this, you’re probably trying to understand your journey. Life is About the Destination, Not the Journey

The destination matters more because without you knowing the reason for your existence, then where in the world are you going? [I’ll explain this part on the next article, so make sure you subscribe to get new post alerts]. How can you take a journey without knowing the destination? YOU CAN’T. To not know your destination is to truly not know who you are. Some people were created to use art to bring positivity into the world, but they look down on their gift as if it’s too little to have meaning on that a global level. So instead they go on to become lawyers and doctors and show up to work every day feeling empty. Life is about the destination, not the journey.

Food for Thought😁
As we conclude, I want to ask you this question-
do you understand YOUR journey?
Do you think your destination matters?
