Understanding Your Walk with God | Sheilla Akwara

Understanding Your Walk with God

Let’s do a quick check-in. How are you feeling today? How is your walk with God? Have you been working on your relationship with Him? Do you have any areas that you’re struggling with?

Walking with God is like waiting for a special surprise at every turn. Sometimes you don’t know what to expect or how The Lord will answer, but whether it’s good or challenging, it will lead to a beautiful end. Remember the Bible says all things work together for your good.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)

ALL THINGS, yes, even what you’re passing through right now. I want you to pause for a second here. What are you passing through? What are you facing at this specific moment? I want you to put the worry aside and look at the pieces of that puzzle. Yes, right now all the pieces might not be there, and some parts are laying on the floor and they don’t fit YET – but all those pieces and the ones coming will work together and fit together, making a great masterpiece.

Everything is part of the great design; it ALL fits together. What if it’s an attack Sheilla? Let me tell you, God does not sleep nor slumber. He saw that attack coming. If it was allowed to come to you, then it means you’re in a type of class (1 Corinthians 10:13) , and when the lesson is over, a door of escape will appear. How exciting! I wonder what God is trying to teach you. Now, I am not taking away from your experiences, your pain or your tears. I get it! Sometimes it’s just not easy. This is why we lean on God. We don’t do the difficult parts or any parts for that matter on our own.

So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD of hosts. (Zechariah 4:6)

Often times we plant (prayer, tithing, seed etc.), we water (worship, fast, meditation, Bible study and more prayer etc.), but we are not patient with God (who gives the increase). I encourage you to work on this part of you. Be still and know that He is God.

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)

The verse above says God is not slack with us.

Slack means:

careless in performing or doing

To avoid work or duty

Slow, sluggish, not active or busy

God is not slow; He hasn’t forgotten to perform His word. In fact, He says:

Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.” (Jeremiah 1:12)

God is waiting for us to come to repentance. God is always watching over His word to ensure that it comes to pass, so take heart. Repentance means to review one’s actions and to commit to actual steps that show you are working towards change. It’s not just mere speech where you say “Lord, I am sorry.” Faith without actions is dead. Your confession has to be accompanied with actions.

God is waiting for you to learn something and to show a particular change in some area. At times when navigating life, you might think that things are unfair and many even feel like they are a curse. For each situation, there’s always a way out. For every situation there’s a lesson and I want to assure you that it always ends in victory. All things work together!
